Yes indeed, we are a media sensation.  In August of 2004 we responded to a notice on a innkeeper's website which read:  "Are you aspiring innkeepers ready to leave established careers, move across the country and live your dream of buying a Bed and Breakfast?  If so, the people at Radical Sabbatical on The FineLiving Network may want to talk to you."

Well, it turns out they wanted to do more than talk; they wanted to feature us on their program about people who leave the "fast lane" to pursue their dreams.  Thus began the totally surreal experience of "reality TV."  Our story premiered January 2nd, 2005 and has run periodically since then.  There is nothing like a camera in your face to paralyze your brain and prevent a single coherent sentence from escaping your lips.

They promised to make us look brilliant in post-production, but we've never been able to bear to watch it ourselves.  If you've seen the show we want to assure you that we are much smarter, thinner and nicer than we appear on television. In fact, that wasn't even us. Really.

Recommended reading for aspiring innkeepers:

"So - You Want to be an Innkeeper" by Susan Brown, et al. The widely acknowledged "bible" for aspiring innkeepers.  There are other good books, but this one is the best.

"Making a Living Without a Job" by Barbara J. Winter.  One of the most inspiring books you will ever read, for anyone with an idea, a dream, a passion they would like to pursue.

"I'm Living Your Dream Life: The Story of a Northwoods Resort Owner" by Michelle VanOrt Cozzens.  An honest and hilarious account of a young couple who "took the leap".
